Event roundup: How to make your public affairs campaign stand out with Kevin Hollinrake MP

How to make your public affairs campaign stand out with Kevin Hollinrake MP

The APPC’s Young Consultants’ Committee (YCC) was delighted to welcome Kevin Hollinrake MP to a Q&A session attended by 40 plus young consultants on Tuesday 27 October, kindly hosted by Instinctif Partners.

During the Q&A session we heard about Kevin’s business background; his reasons for entering politics and his thoughts on being one of the new 2015 intake of Conservative MPs. Kevin outlined his thoughts on the similarities between politics, business and lobbying around converting leads. He went on to explain that in order to convert leads as lobbyists we need to connect our campaigns and approaches with constituency issues. He noted that whether an MP is a Minister or Member of a Select Committee or a backbencher, they are always aware that there position in Parliament is down to their electorate.

A range of interesting questions were raised by attendees, covering industry involvement in APPGs; how to best make contact with an MP; and EU reform, to which Kevin gave honest and helpful answers.
