Three more companies join APPC

The APPC are delighted to welcome three new members into its membership. This brings the total membership of the APPC to a record 53 with more potential members on their way.

The new members are Champollion, Golden Arrow Communications and Sovereign Strategy.

Champollion is an independent communications consultancy, specialising in issues management, media handling and stakeholder relations. It was founded in 2005 by former BBC and Financial Times journalist Simon Buckby.

Simon Buckby, Managing Director, said:
“Champollion is delighted to have been accepted as a member of the APPC. Although Champollion is primarily a media consultancy, in an era when the public, opinion formers and potential clients are all healthily sceptical about some PR firms, it is important for us to abide by, and be seen to abide by, the high professional and ethical standards which APPC membership reinforces.”

Golden Arrow Communications was formed two years ago to provide public affairs advice and support to the transport, local government and environment sectors. Since then, Golden Arrow has branched out to also provide campaigns support to clients working in regional government and infrastructure fields.

Andrew Sharp, Managing Director of Golden Arrow, said
“We are delighted to join the APPC family and to play our part in shaping the future development of our industry. The APPC is a recognised standard of industry best practice and a sign of confidence for clients and the political community.”

Sovereign Strategy is a consultancy that specialises in public relations, government relations and corporate responsibility and sustainability programmes as well as more general business-to-business facilitation. Sovereign Strategy has a team of around a dozen people in offices in London, Brussels and Newcastle, but a global client list including Bloomberg, the City of London and the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile. Sovereign Strategy has just launched Sovereign Partners China and secured its first client for the new venture – The Edge Foundation, a vocational learning charity.

Rory O’Neill, UK Managing Director, said:

“We are delighted to have joined the APPC, which has been a long-held goal of ours. We were aware that we were one of the most high-profile firms outside the APPC. I can’t thank enough for their efforts all those who have driven this forward, both within our firm and within the APPC Management Committee. We always wanted to contribute to the debate on the future of the industry in a constructive and mature way, and for us membership is the best way to do that. We intend to be very active within the organisation and look forward to playing a leading role.”

APPC Chair, Gill Morris, said
“I am naturally delighted that the APPC has reached a new high. I am fairly confident that the APPC will continue to grow and achieve 55 if not 60 members in the year ahead. As always, I would urge others to come and join us and consider the benefits of APPC membership at this important time for the industry.

I am particularly pleased that these companies have undertaken to accept the voluntary self-regulation regime offered by APPC.”
