APPC MEMBERSHIP GROWS AGAIN

The Association of Professional Political Consultants is delighted to welcome five new members - Blue Rubicon, Illiam Costain McCade, Green Issues, Hanover Communications and Political Developments Ltd. The APPC now boasts 61 members, which brings membership to its highest level since records began in 1995.

Founded in 1999, Blue Rubicon is an integrated communications consultancy with a broad range of clients. Blue Rubicon is currently PR Week’s Agency of the Year and Marketing magazine’s PR Agency of the Year. Blue Rubicon has recently bolstered its public affairs expertise with a number of new hires.

Commenting on Blue Rubicon’s decision to apply for APPC membership, Director Chris Norton said:
“Smart clients are increasingly asking us to join up their public relations and public affairs communications so that they are most effective and powerful. With a bigger public affairs team at Blue Rubicon, it’s right that we join the APPC and cement our existing high professional standards.”

Formerly Director of Grayling Scotland, Illiam Costain McCade is an independent consultant based in Edinburgh, working with his own clients and also as part of a team of consultants at Cogitamus. Since joining APPC in his own right, Illiam has been elected as secretary of APPC in Scotland.

Illiam Costain McCade said
“I am delighted to have had my application for membership of the APPC accepted. I consider membership of APPC to be a priority for any sole trader or organisation engaged in public affairs with transparency and accountability becoming increasingly important in both business and in politics. The greatest value of membership is in the fact that the APPC is an active and pro-active organisation, which not only sets the highest standards for professional conduct in our industry but also provides ongoing training and support to its members, and keeps the ‘rules of engagement’ enshrined in the APPC Code of Conduct under constant review.”

Green Issues Communications was established in 1998 and is a leading provider of consultation and public affairs services, specialising in planning-related issues. Clients are drawn from a range of sectors, including energy, health, house building, leisure, retail and transport.

Simon Miller, Managing Director of Green Issues, said
“It is clear that the APPC is an organisation of increasing influence and an important voice for our industry. Both Green Issues and APPC share a commitment to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, so we are delighted to become an APPC member and look forward to contributing to its future work.”

Hanover is a corporate communications and public affairs consultancy with 32 consultants and over 40 high-profile clients. Since 1998, hanover has successfully advised organisations from FTSE 100 companies to major public sector bodies devising and delivering integrated communications programmes on a range of issues and in complicated commercial and regulatory environments.

Charles Lewington, hanover MD, said:
“hanover has been a member of the PRCA for three years and its ethical code of conduct covering public affairs is almost identical to that of the APPC, so joining is a logical step. We are impressed by the approach of the new Chair of the APPC, Robbie MacDuff, and his vision.”

Political Developments Ltd (PDL) is a bespoke government relations consultancy based in the heart of Mayfair, offering political and community consultation services to the property industry and beyond. PDL also supports trade associations and other organisations in moving confidently through the political maze whether this relates to issue awareness, legislative changes, committee preparation or profile raising.

Jeremy Handel, Director, said:
“PDL is delighted to join the membership ranks of the APPC and we fully embrace the work they do to promote adherence to a strict ethical code.”

Robbie MacDuff, Chair of APPC said
“These five new members joining APPC demonstrates that the APPC’s Code of Conduct and standards of ethics are important to all sizes and types of public affairs consultancies.

In my chairmanship, I am looking forward to more new members joining and to consolidating the growth in membership over the past few years.
