APPC holds training seminar in Wales
Political consultants based in Wales have held their first training seminar on the APPC Code of Conduct, demonstrating the ethical standard they follow when interacting with Members of the National Assembly of Wales and Assembly officials.
The seminar was held on 25 September at the Millenium Centre in CardiffBay. The leading public affairs companies in Wales were represented, including Grayling, Morgan Allen Moore, Positif Politics and StrataMatrix.
“As a small devolved nation with growing legislative powers, Wales has shorter decision chains, closer partnerships and greater internal local links, which together create a very different environment for political communication programmes. The principles of the Code matter as much here as they do in Westminster, if not more” said Rosemary Grogan, who led the training seminar.
“The APPC is continuing to grow in line with the maturing public affairs industry in Wales. This seminar helps to ensure that the APPC Code is being applied effectively UK-wide.”
Gill Morris, Chair of APPC, added
“We are delighted that this seminar is being held in Cardiff, demonstrating the strength and value of the APPC Code of Conduct throughout the UK to central, devolved and local government. We want clients and legislators to be confident that the Code is being followed in Wales, as elsewhere. We hope the event will also persuade other political consultants active in Wales to join the APPC and comply with the Code.”
