APPC membership grows again
The Association of Professional Political Consultants is delighted to welcome two new members. College Public Policy and Stratagem-NI have both been accepted into APPC membership. The APPC now boasts 36 members – an increase of five members this year and the highest number since records began in 1995.
Commenting on the APPC’s record membership, APPC Chair, Gill Morris, said
“This is a significant landmark for the APPC and is testament to our conviction that more and more consultancies recognise the value of our Code of Conduct and want to get on board. It is increasingly important for the industry to demonstrate transparency and an ethical approach; the more members we get signed up, the stronger the industry will be in terms of raising its standards, reputation and public profile.”
“College Hill and Stratagem demonstrate that APPC membership is important to the whole range of PA consultancies in the UK. The APPC will continue to recruit new members and I hope that all those firms that are not currently members will consider the benefits of the APPC and self-regulation.”
College Public Policy is the new public affairs practice of College Hill. Based in The City, College Hill is a financial and corporate communications consultancy. College Public Policy is headed up by Warwick Smith, who remains a member of the APPC management committee.
Warwick Smith said
“It was a natural decision to join the APPC. Those of us who take pride in the industry and in our positive contribution to the democratic process recognise the importance of ensuring that the industry manages its affairs effectively, and is seen to do so. In politics, if you don’t tell your own story, someone else will do it for you – and probably not as you would like. In government relations, we either show that we can regulate ourselves or someone else will do it for us. And that applies not only to the consultancy sector, but to everyone who interacts with government.”
Stratagem is Northern Ireland’s first dedicated PA consultancy. Established in 1998, Stratagem offers a comprehensive range of advisory, information and support services to clients to help advance their government relations agenda.
Quintin Oliver, Director of Stratagem, said
“Stratagem is delighted to join APPC. Ethical lobbying underpins all our activities in dealings with clients and with institutions of government.
