20 April 2007
Two new members join the APPC
The APPC are delighted to welcome another two new members into its membership – Atherton Associates and JMC Partners. This brings the total membership of the APPC to an unprecedented 43 firms with more potential members on their way.
Atherton Associates is led by Candy Atherton, a former Labour MP and journalist. It specialises in campaigns to raise client profiles inside Westminster and Whitehall and beyond. Recently Atherton Associates has been working on a range of waterway issues, including the campaign against cuts by DEFRA, which has involved hundreds of MPs, adjournment debates and a Select Committee Inquiry.
Candy Atherton said
“The APPC has been at the forefront of setting standards for our industry. I am pleased that Atherton Associates is part of the Association and look forward to working with others in the industry to ensure transparency.”
JMC Partners was set up five years ago to provide public affairs support of the highest quality, drawing on the talents of a small, highly capable and experienced team. JMC works with clients to inform the political process in a way which improves public policy and its implementation. As a fast-growing consultancy with a particularly strong position in healthcare, JMC aims to lead the sector in the results it achieves on behalf of clients.
John Murray, senior partner of JMC, said
“We have always ascribed the standards laid down in the APPC Code of Conduct, founded on the cardinal importance of transparency, in everything we do. At this stage in the business’s development, we are delighted to join the Association and look forward to working with other members to communicate the sector’s role in helping to inform the development of public policy.”
APPC Chair, Gill Morris, said
“I am delighted to welcome two new members to APPC, demonstrating the the value of the Code and strengthening the UK’s self-regulatory regime. I could not be more pleased with the current trend and, as always, I would urge others consider the benefits and to join us.”
